Sewing Box / Workbox
Lined in Light Pink Moiré Silk
with Strawberry Pin Cushion, Needle Emery & Needle-Keep
c 1910
In the last photo there's an example of this workbox from the book:

Strawberry emery good
condition, not leaking sand. Pincushion also sturdy piece. Needle keep with original embroidery though missing bit of wool.
The old pins are most likely those originally place there by the Shaker woman who owned & used this sewing box.

Please note, it may appear in first photo that the handle is bent out of its shape, it's not, this was caused by my camera angle.
The ribbons which attached the pin cushion & needle emory have worn from time & broken. Also, years ago, some little bug has dined in places. It was this way when
originally
found, (thankfully the bug wasn't eating at my house).
The silk looks loose in spots where once it was attached around
the
inside opening. The wood could be tightened down at the seam. L
id lined in original textured paper which has staining.
Such a
sweet
box,
a beautiful piece from years gone by.
