Antique RR Steam Engine Water Gauge , By, Macbeth-Evans Glass Company, 1920's

Description

I found this glass item while going through boxes in storage.
I've had lots of items handed down from family.
This is so Unique and I didn't know exactly what it might be, so I had to research it.
It was a water gauge cover made by the Macbeth-Evans Glass Company.
It is embossed on one edge with "MACBETH-4-7"
The other edge is embossed with PAT. 1488403
It is smooth on back and has ridges in the glass on the front.
I found a little more information which stated that it was used for measuring the boiler water level on a Steam Engine Locomotive.
It is 9" long, 1 5/16" wide and the side edges are 11/16" wide.
