    Description

SALLY RAND at the Orpheum Theatre in San Fransisco 1936 Reproduction Show Poster
This is a high quality lithograph reproduction of the poster for 'Her Sexellency' Sally Rand's 1936 shows at the famed Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco. She was THE exotic dancer of the 1930s, the originator of the fan dance and she also conceived and developed the bubble dance, in part to cope with wind while performing outdoors. The utmost of the strip-tease burlesque dancers of the time, she was arrested a few times due to indecent exposure while dancing, which helped to spur her notoriety to the point that she packed theaters across the country, often enciting near pandemonium in the audience with her ribald performances! This is an awesome poster with great suggestive erotic graphics, a beautiful example of the poster/placard art of the era.
The Orpheum is a San Francisco Historical Landmark, first opened in 1926, whose interior features a vaulted ceiling while the facade was patterned after a 12-century French cathedral. This is a poster of a legendary dancer performing at a legendary venue. A wonderful offset lithograph on heavy poster stock, it measures approx 13 x 19" and is in mint condition. FREE rock concert handbills included!
