About this piece from The Country Music Hall of Fame (CMHOF)
Hatch Show Print designer-printer Julie Sola created a striking image of Country Music Hall of Fame member Willie Nelson for posters celebrating Nelson's 2010 tours of Europe and the United Kingdom. Sola carved these three blocks that-when printed one atop the other-reveal Nelson's complete portrait. Sola's image of Nelson was sketched refined, and transferred to three same-size blocks of wood mounted with linoleum. Carbon paper was used to redraw the image on each block, in the same position. The parts of each block that should not print were carved away, leaving the images on the block.
Each piece can be slightly different as plates are inked by hand & poster hand pulled for each color giving a unique quality within the edition. This is among the favorite and sought after of Willie Nelson images for gig poster collectors.
